マクドナルドから新しいARアプリが公開された。AR技術では世界トップクラスのクアルコム社のVuforiaが使用されているが、今までとは異なる新しい技術 Smart Terrain™ が採用されている。3Dジオメトリックマップだ。物理的に置かれた箱やアイテムを認識して、その場を動的に認識エリアとする。ゲームだけではなく様々な場面で利用できそうな新しいVuforia3.0が提供する技術だ。
Smart Terrain™ is a breakthrough vision capability available in the Qualcomm® Vuforia™ 3.0 SDK. It uses advanced reconstruction techniques to create a 3D geometric map of the environment in real-time, giving apps the ability to interact with various objects and surfaces. The McDonald's GOL! app is the first commercial app using the Smart Terrain feature and it will be available in App Store and Google Play on May 26.
