新型眼鏡型液晶ディスプレー「エアスカウター」。一年以上前から試作品を何度が発表していたブラザー工業が、ようやく製品として発売を開始するようだ。なんと世界初という。しばらくは業務用のみでの販売だが将来的には娯楽用機器としての販売も検討中という。とても楽しみだ！

(via ITmedia http://www.itmedia.co.jp/news/articles/1108/24/news116.html)ブラザー工業は8月24日、ヘッドマウントディスプレイ（HMD）「AiRScouter」を正式に事業化し、今秋からNEC向けに出荷を始めると発表した。実際の視野に電子画面を重ねて見ることができる特徴を生かし、工場での機器組立や倉庫での商品・部品ピッキング作業など、産業向けに採用拡大を目指していく。
光源部に高精細の液晶パネルを採用し、光源部からの画像をハーフミラーで反射させて目に投射する仕組み。目の前に半透明ディスプレイがあるかのような感覚で、実際の視野にPC画面などを重ねることができるという。1メートル先に16インチのフルカラー画面を見る場合と同様の視認性を実現し、12ポイントの文字まで視認可能という。
