2010年12月に、ヨルダンにてグーグルのイベントが開催された。そこで紹介されたのが、Android端末で3Dモデルの自動車を表示するARのデモ。

Last month we heard about Google's efforts into building an augmented reality system, superimposing phone-rendered content onto a live video feed. According to those who had seen the system at work, it would supposedly far surpass existing AR implementations. Now we have access to a video demo of the system, and while it still seems to need a little polish, it's a very impressive starting point.
Coming from a Jordanian Google event last month, the demo shows some Google-Goggles-like applications of AR, letting an ad seem to come alive. As you can see in the video below, the Android phone not only recognizes the car advertisement in question, but is able to render a 3D version of the car, seemingly popping right out of the ad. As the phone moves around the ad, viewing it from different angles, we can see how Android keeps right up with the movements, making the car appear stationary in respect to the page. Further interactions with these kind of AR objects are possible, letting you tap on one to explore it in greater depth.
