RideOn が、スキーヤーのためのHUD(ヘッドアップディスプレイ)を販売する
イスラエルのスタートアップ ライド・オン社が、スキーやスノーボード愛好家のためのHUD(拡張現実グラス)「RideOnゴーグル」販売を開始する。GPSで自分の位置が分かるようになる。ハンズフリー制御方式を使用してナビゲートされる、動画を録画し他のRideOnのユーザーにメッセージとともに送信することもできるようだ。スキーの道具をいったん装備するとコミュニケ―ションがとり難い状態になるが、このようなコミュニケーションツールが有ると解決できそうだ。
また、RideOnゴーグルは、なんと2,400mAhのバッテリーを搭載するため、8時間以上の使用ができるというから驚きだ。十分実用性がある。そしてディスプレイは、明るい日光の下で読み取り可能であると主張している。
この製品、事前注文は499ドル、正式な価格は899ドルであると予想されている。納期は、2015年9月の予定とのことだ。

RideOn is set to take on the likes of Recon and Oakley with a pair of augmented reality goggles designed for tech-loving ski and snowboard enthusiasts. The Israeli-based startup's AR ski goggles have just gone live on Indiegogo, and the company claims it has the edge over its rivals due to the virtual reality aspect's positioning in the wearer's field of vision. “What distinguishes RideOn is our delivery of a true AR experience, derived from a seethrough display that projects data onto the centre of your field of view, not on the side,” explained Alon Getz, CEO and co-founder. “We wanted to find our locations on a ski resort map instantly, or to quickly contact each other when we’d get separated.
