未来の家具購入では、拡張現実やバーチャルリアリティが活用される - In the furniture purchase in the future, AR and BR are used.

サンフランシスコの南側にある小さな家具屋に展示されているカウチ。このカウチには模様はいっさいない。無地である。そのカウチにプロジェクターで模様を投影することにより、実物の商品と同様の見え方で商品の生地を比較検討することができるようになっている。iPadで操作することによって、生地が変更できるようになっている。展示スペースが余りない場所や、在庫が十分に置くことが出来ない店舗でも、このような方法が実現できればスムースに効率よく販売が出来るかもしれない。

 

In a darkened room in the back of a small furniture store just south of San Francisco International Airport, the couch in front of me keeps changing colors and patterns, from red to blue to beige to a gray, white, and green pattern.The couch is real — I can reach out and poke the cushions — but the psychedelic surface-shifting effect is created with augmented reality technology that projects fabric patterns onto the surface of the couch (which in reality is a boring shade of gray).
