Project Tango prototype - 期待の Project Tangoの 開発者向けキットの配送開始!?
GoogleのATAP部門で研究開発されている "Project Tango" の開発者向けキットが申し込みを行った一部の方に対して配送が開始されたようです。海外のWEBサイトでもキットの内容やデモの紹介記事を公開。Project Tangoとは、モバイルデバイスが空間と動きを人間並みに認識できるようにすることを目指したプロジェクト。高度なモーション・空間追跡センサー等を内蔵した独自仕様のAndroidスマートフォンを利用し、3Dマッピング機能を実現するための新たなアルゴリズムやAPIの開発が行われているとのこと。その端末の外観は通常のAndroidスマートフォンと似ており、パソコンとの接続にはUSB 3.0端子が利用されているようだ。
As promised, Google is sending out Project Tango prototypes to developers as we speak. In fact one developer, Omar Soubra, already posted some pictures of the device along with videos. Being involved with 3D scanners in the past, Omar says that Project Tango “is a bit like magic.” Google is shipping the Tango prototype in a white cardboard box, along with a USB 3.0 cable, USB 2.0 cable, 2 chargers, and a quick-start instruction guide. The phone itself has both a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port for whatever reason.
