Fujitsu develops Driview augmented reality iPhone app for their car navigation system - 富士通から#ＡＲ仕様のカーナビが登場

Fujitsu is set to launch two new car navigation systems in Asia this summer, and to complement the navigation system, the Japanese company has developed an app for the iPhone dubbed Driview which essentially mounts the iPhone facing towards the driver’s windscreen and uses the camera to capture images, transposing them onto the display of the navigation system via a cable sold separately.

At the moment the app is free for download from the iTunes App Store, although it seems that it is limited to certain Asian countries. No word on when this app/feature will be making its way into the US, but based on the demo video above, we have to say that it is a pretty cool idea and a feature we wouldn’t mind having!
