本来、ARの技術に期待するべきことは、可視化だ。見えない情報を、現実の映像や音にオーバーレイすることで、利用者に情報を分かりやすく伝えることだ。その点、このAndroidアプリは、ARとして実用性が有りそうだ。Wi-Fiがどこで利用出来るか教えてくれるアプリケーションとなっている。

When I want to use my Nexus One heavily, I typically prefer Wi-Fi. It’s not a tough decision — if a network is available. I do appreciate T-Mobile’s quality 3G speeds, but if I’m in for some serious web work, whether that be browsing or apps, Wi-Fi will obviously provide me with a better signal. When on the road, though, finding a hotspot can be an issue. Sometimes I’ll see open networks, but it won’t have a strong signal. Where’s it coming from? If I only knew, I could move closer an take advantage. That’s what the Lookator app attempts to tell me.
